Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 Beta ROM released for Xiaomi Redmi 4A


Xiaomi recently started rolling out Android Nougat based MIUI 9 for eligible devices, however, the Redmi 4A was omitted from the list. To remind you, the Redmi 4A was launched in India back in March 2017 running MIUI 8 based Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Having said that, the Redmi 4A has finally got some attention, as Xiaomi has pushed MIUI Global Beta 7.11.16, which is based on Android 7.1.2. The MIUI 9 beta arrives as Android version 7.1.2.N2G47H and includes October 2017 security patch. Check out the list of new features and changes below.
Highlights
New – New App vault features: shortcuts, brief notes, calendar events, and cricket (11-10)
Lockscreen, Status Bar, Notification Bar
New – New content provider for Wallpaper Carousel – Glance. Enjoy high-quality images, read stories, and slide down to view more. (11-10)
Fix – Previews weren’t shown correctly in landscape mode (11-10)
Settings
Fix – Settings FC when changing the region (11-13)
Widgets
Fix – System launcher keeps stopping when adding or opening a widget after update to 7.11.10 (11-10)
Gallery
Fix – Gallery only shows documents even after resetting all default app setting (11-11)
Camera
Can’t access gallery by pressing the button directly from the camera application in Turkish (11-13)
Mail
Fix – The mail message page layout is displayed incorrectly (11-07)
Mi Video
Chinese language can be seen in Mi Video (11-09)
Do note that this build for Redmi 4A is in beta phase, so it might take a month or two for Xiaomi to release Nougat update to stable ROM users. However, if you're impatient, you can download the Recovery ROM here (Link) and flash it using Updater method, or download the Fastboot ROM (Link) to flash it using Fastboot method.
