Nokia 3 Android 7.1.2 update delayed

HMD this month pushed out updates to Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8. While Nokia 5 and 6 received Android 7.1.2 upgrade along with October security patch, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 8 only received October Security patch.

However, now HMD has confirmed that Nokia 3 will get Android 7.1.2, but it will take some time to push the update. The delay has to do with MediaTek processor, as Nokia needs to get updated drivers and some time to complete the software testing.

In a statement to NokiaPowerUser, HMD stated: "It seems Nokia 3 is poised to get Android 7.1.2 before the Android Oreo update but the update is delayed because of a very well-known reason. Mediatek processor on Nokia 3 means slight delay in getting updated drivers and some more time required to complete their testing."

This means Nokia 3 is likely to get Android 7.1.2 with the next monthly update cycle (November). Android 7.1.2 brings few new features like battery usage alerts, enhanced notification stability, a better fingerprint swipe performance and more.

That said, HMD has once again in the statement reaffirmed that Nokia 3 will get Android Oreo. As for Nokia 8, that's running Android 7.1.1, HMD has already confirmed that it will be directly updated to Android Oreo.
