Android Oreo coming to Sony Xperia XZ Premium in December (or early)

Sony Mobile has already published the list of devices that will taste Android Oreo. However, it did not reveal a time frame of the roll out, or which device will get it first.

Now, Sony Mobile Japan has confirmed that the company's flagship Xperia XZ Premium will get Android Oreo starting December.

It's worth mentioning that while the Xperia XZ Premium units in Japan won't taste Oreo until until December, there is a high change the update will arrive to other parts of the world earlier.

That said, we can safely assume that Xperia XZ Premium will be Sony's first smartphone to get Android Oreo. We can also expect some other Xperia devices to get the update around the same time.

To remind you, last year, Sony released Nougat starting with the Xperia X Performance in November. However, before the roll out process began, the Nougat update was tested under the Xperia Beta Program. Android Oreo is also likely to go through a similar process this year before the official roll out.

List of Xperia devices that will get Android Oreo: Xperia XA1 Plus, Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, Xperia XZ, Xperia X Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra, Xperia Touch Projector
