Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 coming to India soon: Manu Jain

Last year, Xiaomi India fans were left disappointed, after Xiaomi confirmed it will not launch the bezel-free Mi MIX in India. However, this year the company has decided to bring its successor Mi MIX 2 to the country.

Xiaomi India's Vice President and Managing Director took to Twitter to confirm that the company will launch the Mi MIX 2 in the country 'soon'. How soon... unfortunately a time frame was not revealed, but it will most likely launch before Diwali.

While Xiaomi has been ruling the budget segment of sub-Rs. 15,000 in the country, it has been very careful about the premium high-end segment. The last premium high-end device Xiaomi launched in the country if Mi 5, which was a year ago. However, Xiaomi is now in a stronger position in the country, placed comfortably at the second spot in the smartphone Indian market. Moreover, it has opened a couple of Mi Home Store in the country to tap the offline customers.

All this makes the perfect time for Xiaomi to introduce a high-end flagship product in the country, and the bezel-less Mi MIX 2 is icing on the sugar.

The Mi MIX 2 was introduced earlier today in China, and has a starting price equivalent of Rs. 32,000, and goes up to Rs. 47,000 for the special edition model. Just like the predecessor, the Mi MIX 2 has a bezel-less design boasting a screen to body ratio of 95 percent, for a full screen view. It is also a powerhouse featuring 5.99-inch Full HD+ display (w/ 18:9 aspect ratio), Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/256GB/128GB storage, 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera with OIS, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and 3400mAh battery. It ships with Android Nougat based MIUI 9.

Apart from Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi also announced the Mi Note 3 featuring 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM, dual-cameras and more. It is not known, if Xiaomi plans to launch this device in the country or not.
