Xiaomi's big Mi Max 2 India launch set for July 18


Xiaomi is bringing its next big thing to India. The popular Chinese smartphone maker has scheduled an event on July 18 for the launch of Mi Max 2. It also shared an invite, that reads "Last year, we made ripples with this new category and now it is back. Join us in witnessing the return on ‘BIG’."

Similar to Mi Max, the Mi Max 2 comes with a bigger screen and a beefy battery capacity. It has 6.44-inch Full HD display, and packs a massive 5300mAh battery, that's rated to deliver up to 18 hours of video playback or up to 57 hours of talk time. It also support Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0, that lets you charge the huge battery up to 68 percent in just an hour.


Other specs include Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 12MP Sony IMX386 camera (w/ dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture), 5MP 85-degree wide angle front camera, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.2, hybrid dual-SIM slots and fingerprint scanner. It ships with Android based MIUI 8, and comes in two storage versions: 64GB and 128GB, but India is likely to also get a 32GB storage variant as well.

The Mi Max 2 is price starts at CNY 1699 ($247 | Rs. 16,000) in China and is offered in Black and Gold. We will get to know the pricing and availability details next Tuesday.
