YU Yureka Black with Snapdragon 430, 4GB RAM launched for Rs. 8,999

After a hiatus of nearly nine months, Micromax sub-brand YU is back in the smartphone market with a new phone. The new Yureka Black is a mid-range smartphone, and packs impressive specs at a lower price, that looks good on paper. Moreover, it flaunts a premium build sporting metal unibody design with a glossy back finish, similar to iPhone 7 Plus. There's also a fingerprint sensor baked into home button.

In terms of specifications, the YU Yureka Black comes with 5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor, with 4GB RAM, and 32GB storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.

For photography, it gets 13MP Sony IMX258 rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF and 8MP selfie camera also assisted by flash. Connectivity duties are handled by hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG. It runs Android Marshmallow and is fueled by 3000mAh battery. Micromax promises to push Android Nougat to the device soon.

The YU Yureka Black carries a price tag of Rs. 8,999 and will be available exclusively through Flipkart starting June 6 in Chrome Black color with glossy finish and Matte Black color with smooth finish. Given the pricing and specification, the device will be up against, Xiaomi's Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4.

Everything is fine so far, and there is nothing much to complain about design, specs and pricing, but here's an interesting bit, the Yureka Black appears to be a re-branded Wiko U Feel Prime, which was launched last year. The design (except the black paint job) and the specs are exactly the same. This is the second time this year, Micromax is coming out with a rebranded (copied) phone. Earlier this month it launch the dual-camera toting Dual 5 smartphone, which was rebranded 360 Qiku Q5.
