HTC U specifications leaked, confirms Edge Sensors, enhanced camera and more

Just last week we got to know details of HTC's Snapdragon 835 powered flagship, the HTC U (codenamed HTC Ocean). Now a new leaked presentation slide of HTC U, courtesy of Android Headlines, reveals the functions and special features of the upcoming flagship.

As revealed last week, HTC U's unique feature is its special sensors called Edge Sensors, which will be place on the bottom of the phone and allow users to interact with the edges of the phone's frame to perform various gestures, while it is in sleep mode with the display off. Users will be able to trigger these gestures with a long or short  squeeze. Also, these gestures can be accessed with ease using one hand for launching the camera, Google Assistant, HTC Sense companion or turning on the WiFi HotSpot and more.

The presentation slide also reveals that HTC U will come with enhanced camera capabilities with advanced HDR setting to provide better picture quality including HDR+, Smart Video Zoom, 3D Audio and Hi-Res Recording functions.

As far as specs are concerned, HTC U will feature 5.5-inch WQHD Gorilla Glass 5 display, and will be equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, 12MP Sony IMX362 rear camera and 16MP Sony IMX351 selfie camera and 3000mAh battery.

Other specs include HTC's signature Multimedia BoomSound audio, four microphones, dual-speakers, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, fast charging and Android 7.1 Nougat. Lastly, like the HTC U Ultra and HTC 10 Evo (Bolt), the HTC U will lack the 3.5mm audio jack, and instead the audio will be delivered through the USB Type-C port.

Previous report have suggested that HTC U will be unveiled later this month, and hit major markets next month. An exact announcement date is still not known.
