Android 7.1.1 now rolling out to Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance

After OnePlus and ZTE, Sony Mobile is the next smartphone maker to release Android 7.1.1 Nougat to some of its devices.

The first Sony devices in line to get Android 7.1.1 is the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance. Both phones shipped with Android Marshmallow, and were updated to Nougat towards the end of November 2016.

The Android 7.1.1 update for Xperia XZ and Xperia X performance carries the build number 41.2.A.2.199, and includes a number of native Android 7.1.1 feature a new compatible launcher that supports app shortcuts (Xperia Home launcher doesn't support app shortcuts), and the Android security patch has been update to April 1, 2017. It should also include bug fixes, performance improvements and optimizations as well.

Other changes are not known, but the native Android 7.1.1 update feature new emojis to promote gender equality and GIF keyboard support, so these are most likely to be included in Sony's Android 7.1.1 update.

As usual, the update will be rolled out in phases, so it will take time for the update to reach, and cover all Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance devices.
