Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) appears on Geekbench and GFXBench

While the focus is on the Galaxy S8, which will launch next Wednesday (March 29), Samsung is also readying to refresh its budget Galaxy J line up as well.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) has already been part of several leaks, and now details of Galaxy J5 (2017) has hit the interwebs. The phone with model number SM-J530FM has appeared on GFXbench and Geekbench bench-marking websites revealing key specs of the device. It had also received WiFi certification earlier this month.

As per the combined listing, the Galaxy J5 (2017) will feature 4.8-inch HD display, Exynos 7870 octa-core processor clocked at 1.59GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The benchmarks also reveal that Galaxy J5 (2017) will sport 12MP front and rear camera. A 12MP camera on the front means, high-quality selfie. Thankfully, it will run the latest Android version, that is Nougat out of the box.

For comparison, the Galaxy J5 (2016) had 5.2-inch HD display, Snapdragon 410 chip, 13MP/5MP camera, NFC and 3100mAh battery.

As of now it is not known, when Samsung will unveil the refreshed Galaxy J 2017 family, however, it is safe to assume that the phones will be targeted at sub-Rs. 15,000 ($230) price segment.
