BSNL beats Jio, offers 56GB data and unlimited calling at Rs. 339 for 28 days

BSNL, back in December 2016, came out with with two plans of Rs. 99 and Rs. 339 for prepaid subscribers offering unlimited calling and data benefits to compete with Reliance Jio. Now, the state run teleco has  revised the same plans with better data offering.

The revised Rs. 99 plan for prepaid users will offer unlimited BSNL to BSNL local and STD calls, and 500MB data for 28 days. This plan's price will vary from Rs. 99 to Rs. 149, depending on the circle. Previously the same plan provided only 300MB data.

The new Rs. 339 plan, which previously offered 1GB data, will now give you unlimited data, with a daily FUP (fair usage policy) of 2GB per day, and once the full data is consumed, the speed will drop to 80kbps. The plan also gives you unlimited local/ STD BSNL to BSNL calls, plus an additional 25 minutes of voice call every day to any network. Post exhaustion, calls will be charged at Rs. 25 per minute. The plan has validity of 28 days.

It's worth mentioning that these plans are "promotional offers" of BSNL, which means the teleco will modify them after 90 day. Reliance Jio is currently offering 1GB of 4G data and unlimited calling to all networks for free till March 31. Starting April 1, Jio customers opting for Jio Prime Service (by paying one time fee of Rs. 99 and Rs. 304 per month) will be able to enjoy all the goodies of Happy New Year offer (unlimited data w/ FUP of 1GB per day, unlimited voice calling) till March 31 2018.

By comparison, it appears that BSNL's Rs. 339 plan offering is way better than that of Reliance Jio or any other telecos like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular.
