Sony announces the world's fastest SD card

Sony has announced new SF-G series SD cards, which it claims to be the world's fastest SD card with read/write speeds of 300MB/s and 299MB/s respectively.

Sony says that the SF-G series SD cards are fast enough to support continuous shooting of high-res images with high performance DSLR and mirrorless cameras supporting the UHS-II interface.

It was able to achieve such speeds using Sony's algorithm, that "prevents decrease of data-writing speed and contribute to the camera's ability for successive high speed shooting."

The SF-G cards are shock proof, water proof, temperature resistant and X-ray proof. It will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities.

Sony hasn't revealed the pricing details of the SD card, but says the SF-G card will be available sometime in March. Apart from the new faster SD cards, the company will also sell a high speed SD memory card reader, MRW-S1, for use with the SF-G series to transfer the data faster to a PC with USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface.
