Reliance Jio touches 100 million subscribers in 170 days


Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries today announced that Jio has crossed the 100 million subscribers mark in just 170 days since inception. The emerging teleco added seven customers every seconds.

Here are some of the other stats shared by Ambani―
  • India is the number one country worldwide, when it comes to mobile data usage
  • Jio users consumed 100 crore GB of data in January 2017 (3.3 crore GB per day), same as mobile broadband users in the U.S
  • Jio users live streamed 5.5 crore hours of video per day
  • Jio users made 200 crores minutes worth of voice and video calls per day
  • Jio has two time more 4G base stations than all Indian operators combined.
As promised earlier, from April 1 (after Happy New year offer expiry, March 31), Jio will continue to offer unlimited free local, STD and roaming calls to any network across the country for life. Jio also promises to match the highest selling tariff of other operators and offer 20 percent more mobile data.

Lastly, Ambani said that by end of this year, Jio will cover all cities, towns and villages in India, serving 99 percent of India's population.
