Android Wear 2.0 is finally here; brings Google Assistant, Play Store, Android Pay and more to smartwatches


Google's Android Wear 2.0, the latest platform for smartwatches is finally here, along with Google's LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport. The latest update boasts a number of features and improvement to Google's Android Wear smartwatch ecosystem.

Android Wear 2.0 is a major upgrade as its brings new watch face designs, revamped UI, Google Assistant, Android Pay (for supported watches), built-in Google Play Store, gesture keyboard and improved Google Fit.

The main highlight of Android Wear 2.0 is the on-watch Play Store, which will allow users to download and install apps directly to the watch, without the need of having phones near by. Another highlight is support for Google Assitant which offers answers to queries, suggestions, reminders and more. It is currently available in English and German, and more languages will be supported in the coming months.

With Android Wear 2.0, users can also personalize their watch faces with information and actions from their favorite apps. The improved Google Fit will now let users track pace, distance, calories burned and heart rate while working out.The update also brings improvements while responding to messages like dictating, typing or handwriting your message or drawing an emoji. There's also the Smart Reply feature, which suggests quick responses on-the-go-instantly based on the message you received.

Google said that Android Wear 2.0 will reach all supported watches in the coming weeks, without giving an exact time-frame. It also outed the list of smartwatches that will get Android Wear 2.0
