Alcatel A3, U5 affordable Android smartphones announced


Besides the world's first LED cover totting A5 LED, Alcatel also unveiled two affordable smartphones — the Alcatel A3 and U5 — with entry-level specs. Both phone runs Android Marshmallow and includes selfie flash but only the Alcatel A3 gets a fingerprint scanner which is located at the back.

The Alcatel A3 comes with 5-inch HD display and is powered by 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737M processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card. For photography, there's 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Connectivity duties are handled by 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and GPS. A 2460mAh battery runs the show.

The Alcatel U5 on the other hand gets its specs stripped down when compared to the A3. It comes with 5-inch FWVGA display, a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card. It is equipped with 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, and packs a 2050mAh battery. It supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS for connectivity.

Although Alcatel has not revealed the price of the phone, it claims the A3 to be the  most affordable 5-inch HD smartphone, while the U5 the most affordable 4G smartphone.
