OKWU Pi with dual-rear cameras launched for Rs. 5,999


Noida based startup OKWU has launched its first smartphone called Pi boasting dual-rear cameras. It is the first Indian manufacturer to implement dual-rear cameras on a smartphone. 

Apart from dual-rear cameras, the OKWI Pi packs impressive specs like metal body (6.5mm thin & weighs 138g), 4G VoLTE and fingerprint scanner at an affordable price tag.

The OKWU Pi features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor with Mali T720 GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be increased via microSD card.

It comes with 8MP (for color) + 2MP (for increased light capturing and sharpness) dual rear PDAF cameras and a 2MP camera on the front, both equipped LED flash. The dual-SIM phone runs Android Marshmallow and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for connectivity. It is fueled by 2000mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 10 hours of talk time and up to two days of standby time.

The OKWU Pi is the most affordable smartphone with dual-rear cameras, carrying a price tag of Rs. 5,999. It will be up for pre-order via company website from November 27 in gold and rose gold colors, and shipping begins second week of December. The company says that the smartphone will be manufactured and assembled in Shenzen, China, however, it plans to set up own assembly units in India in future.

Besides the Pi smartphone, OKWU also launched a Bluetooth tag called U-Tag, that can be connected to a user's belongings and devices. Users will be able to find tagged belongings using a buzzer when in close range. In case, the tagged device goes beyond a certain distance from the smartphone, the same will be indicated through alerts on the phone. The U-Tag costs Rs. 990, and can come handy to prevent theft or in case you accidentally left your device somewhere.
