New update adds double-tap and lift to check notification features to Pixel, Pixel XL

Some Google Pixel users in Canada are receiving a new Android 7.1 Nougat OTA update carrying build number NPF26J. The update adds two new ways to wake up and check notification on Pixel and Pixel XL — 'Double-tap to check phone' when on standby and 'Lift to check phone'

Both the new features are aimed to make it easier for users to take a quick glance at their notifications. To enable these features head to Settings > Moves > enable 'Double tap to check phone' and 'Lift to check phone.

The OTA update weighs at 261MB and also solves some Band 4 LTE issues faced by users in countries like Canada. Currently it is not clear, if Google will release the new features for U.S or international Pixel owners.

If you can't wait for the official update here are the download liks for build NPF26J ㅡPixel XL NPF26J (Marlin) | Pixel NPF26J (Sailfish). According to reports this might be an accidental roll out of a preview build, as Google is yet to make the factory image or OTA files available on Google's Factory images page. Nothing is confirmed yet.

That said it is highly recommended to wait for the official OTA update to release for your device, and still if you wish to proceed to apply the updates make sure to back up all your data before sideloading build NPF26J.
