HTC Bolt gets official, has no audio jack
HTC has finally announced its latest smartphone called Bolt in the U.S for carrier Sprint. The Bolt sports a full metal unibody design with IP57 rating to protect it from spills, rain and accidental submersion for up to 3.2 feet for up to 30 minutes, which is first time for a HTC smartphone.
Just like Moto, LeEco and Apple, HTC has ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack, instead uses USB Type-C port for transmitting audio. Moreover, the Bolt comes bundled with USB Type-C headphones.
The HTC Bolt features 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super LCD 3 display with Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 protection and is powered by 1GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, which can be further expanded via microSD cad.
For photography, there's 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and OIS, PDAF and 4K video recording. The front facing camera is a 8MP unit. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C.
For software it runs Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC Sense UI on top. There's a fingerprint scanner baked into the home button on the front and packs BoomSound Adaptive Audio and 24-bit high-res audio for immersive sound experience. A 3200mAh battery complete the specifications list.
The HTC Bolt is exclusive to Sprint in the U.S and wil be available at $25 per month with two year contract ($600 total). It comes in Gunmetal and Glacier Silver colors.
