HTC 10 unlocked variants starts receiving Android 7.0 Nougat

HTC's VP of Product Management, Mo Versi has announced that all unlocked version of HTC 10 will receive Android 7.0 Nougat from November 25, Friday.

Versi did not reveal whether the update will roll out to a particular region or globally, but HTC on its official Twitter handle mentioned that Nougat is coming soon to unlocked HTC 10 in the U.S, and it is working hard to bring the update to other regions.

This indicates that U.S unlocked variant of HTC 10 will receive the Nougat update first, followed by other region. As for carrier models (U.S), the Nougat update will be available early next year.

With the announcement HTC becomes the third company after Lenovo/Moto and LG to bring Nougat to its flagship smartphone. Earlier this month Motorola's Moto Z/ Z Force and LG's G5 started receiving Nougat update. Android 7.0 Noygat bring night mode for reading, multi-windows mode to work on two separate apps simultaneously and improved Doze mode for better battery management.

The next HTC phones in line to get Android Nougat will be One M9 and One A9 early next year. We can expect HTC to add more devices to the Nougat compatibility list in 2017. Recently HTC launched U.S exclusive Bolt (for carrier Sprint) and its global variant 10 evo, which ships with Android 7.0 Nougat.
