General Mobile GM 5 is the first Nougat-powered Android One smartphone


Turkey based smartphone maker General Mobile has added a new member to Google's Android One line-up. Dubbed GM 5, it is the first Android One smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat. Apart from the new OS, the rest of the spec sheet is similar to General Mobile 4G, that was launched last year.

The GM5 has 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be further increased via microSD card.

For photography, there's 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 5MP front camera. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports dual-SIMs, 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is backed by 2500mAh battery.

The General Mobile GM5 will be available in single and dual-SIM versions in Black, Space Grey and Gold colors. It will be available in 20 countries via authorized sale points or carrier stores in Azerbaijan, Albania, Afghanistan, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Iraq, Kenya, Luxembourg, Moldova, Netherlands, Pakistan, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, the pricing is not known just yet.
