China tablet maker Chuwi forays into laptop, PC markets


China based Chuwi, best known for its well spec'd inexpensive dual-boot tablets and 2-in-1's, has now forayed into the PC market with the launch of its first laptop and mini desktop PC.

First up, the mini desktop PC is called Hibox Hero. It is powered by Intex Atom x5-Z8350 Cherry Trail processor and includes 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. It has USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI ports, Gigabit Ethernet, microSD card slot and headphone jack.

There's also WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connectivity. Similar to the tablet, Chuwi's Hibox Hero is a Windows 10 and Android 5.1 Lollipop dual-boot system. It also comes bundled with a 2.4GHz RF wireless air mouse remote control.


Chuwi's laptop is called Chuwi LapBook and runs Windows 10 OS, instead of dual OS system. It features 15.6-inch Full HD display and is powered by Intel Atom x5-Z8350 Cherry Trail processors with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage.

It also includes 2MP webcam, full sized keyboard, a touchpad, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, HDMI out, 2 x USB Type-A ports, a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 ports, and a 10000mAh battery which should be good for six to seven hours. 

The Chuwi LapBook is priced at and affordable $190 (Rs. 13,000) and is available for purchase from Gearbest, while the Hibox Hero mini PC will hit the market soon.
