Android 7.0 Nougat beta rolling out to Sony Xperia X Performance

Android 7.0 Nougat Beta is now available for Sony Xperia X Performance owners who are part of the beta program. Currently, the beta firmware is only available for the single SIM variant of Xperia X Performance (F8131) across select regions and comes with the build number 39.2.A.0.248.

The update does not bring any changes to the UI, but comes with Android Nougat features such as split screen, new notification panel buttons and more. Sony has made a couple of changes to the camera software by adding manual shutter speed and ISO controls at full 23MP resolution. The update also includes STAMINA mode, bug fixes and October 1 security patches from Google. The update package is around 1.3GB and will be rolled out over-the-air.

The Android 7.0 Nougat beta update is currently available only for a small number of users who enrolled for the Xperia Beta Program. As for the public release, going by Sony's  history, we can expect roll out of Android Nougat to Xperia X Performance by end of December 2016.

Other devices confirmed by Sony to get Android Nougat include Xperia XZ, Xperia X Compact, Xperia Xa, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 tablet.
