Microsoft announces new VR headsets for $299


Microsoft at its Windows 10 event in New York announced its new Windows 10 Creators Update which focuses on 3D by offering new tools to create 3D image and ways to interact with 3D objects. In addition the update comes with the ability for manufacturers to build Windows 10 powered VR headsets to interact with 3D Virtual objects.

For this, Microsoft is partnering with HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer and ASUS to ship new line of affordable VR headset starting at $299 (Rs. 20,000) for Windows 10 PC, so that users will be able to experience virtual and mixed reality contents.

These VR headsets will feature built-in sensor to enable inside-out, six-degrees of freedom for simplified setup and move easily around to experience and interact with virtual worlds without hurdles. The VR headsets will also work with HoloTour app (originally developed for HoloLens), which will allows users to explore countries and places around the world in virtual reality. Currently the hardware specs of the VR headsets are not known.

The new VR headsets will work with any laptops or PC, be it high-end or low-end. They will arrive in 2017.
