Jide's Remix IO is $99 all-in-one 4K TV set-top box, gaming console and mini PC


Jide Technology, the company behind the Android-based Remix OS, has unveiled Remix IO, an Android Nougat powered All-in-One hub that can be used as set-top box, gaming console and PC.

The Remix IO is powered by a 1.5GHz Rockchip RK3368 octa-core ARM Cortex A-53 processor backed by PowerVR SGX6110 GPU and is capable of handling 4K videos at 60fps. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage, with support for removable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).

The device includes 4 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, VGA port, Ethernet jack and 3.5mm audio jack.

It runs a new version of Remix OS based Android 7.0 Nougat, and much like earlier versions, it supports desktop-like environment including support for multiple accounts, taskbar, multi-windows, start menu, multi-tasking, file manager, keyboard & mouse optimization and ability run apps in floating resizable windows.


It also features a new TV Mode user interface, which allows you to navigate apps using the bundled remote control, mouse or keyboard.

Remix IO will also be able to runs apps developed for Android TV platform, allowing you to run both Android and Android TV apps on the same devices. Note that, Android TV apps will not be available from Play Store, instead you'll have to sideload the app, or use third-party app store 'Aptoide' to download Android TV apps.

There's also a gaming toolkit that will allow users to play touchscreen games on non-touch devices by mapping certain functions to keyboard, mouse or game controller buttons.

The Remix IO is available from Jide's Kickstarter campaign for $99. Shipping will begin March 2017.
