Honor 6X goes official with dual-rear cameras


Huawei sub-brand Honor at an event in China has introduced Honor 6X featuring dual-rear cameras. Unlike Honor 8 and Honor V8 , which were high-end models, the Honor 6X is a mid-ranger and the most affordable smartphone boasting dual-cameras.

The dual-rear cameras on the Honor 6X is a 12MP unit for capturing regular photos and a 2MP unit for achieving depth of field and background blur. The rear unit is accompanied by LED flash and features PDAF (phase-detection auto-focus) and 1.25um pixel size. The selfie camera at the front is an 8MP unit.

The Honor 6X sports a metal unibody design and has a fingerprint scanner at the back. It features  5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by Huawei's octa-core Kirin 655 16nm processor backed by Mali T830 MP2 GPU, and comes in three different versions: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 3GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. It also supports microSD card for storage expansion (up to 128GB).

Connectivity duties are handled by hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It runs EMUI 4.1 on top of Android Marshmallow and is backed by 3340mAh battery with support for fast charging.

The Honor 6X 3GB RAM/32GB storage version is priced at CNY 999 ($150 | Rs. 10,000), while the 4GB RAM/32GB storage version costs CNY 1299 ($192 | Rs. 13,000) and the top end 4GB RAM/64GB storage version will cost CNY 1599 ($237 | Rs. 16,000). It will be available for pre-order in China from today and go on sale starting October 25th in Gold, Silver, Grey, Blue and Rose Gold colors.

The Honor 6X will be competing with its Chinese rival Xiaomi's Redmi Pro in home market, which has the same pricing and features.
