Sony Android Nougat roadmap revealed; Xperia XZ & X Performance to get Nougat from October

Sony has already revealed which of its device will be updated to the latest Android Nougat, but the roll-out time frame was not known. Now a leaked presentation slide containing road-map of the planned update cycle for Xperia devices has surfaced online.

If correct, first, the Xperia XZ and X Performance flagship will get the update in October, followed by Xperia X and Xperia X Compact in November. Users of Xperia Z5 series, (Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium), Xperia Z4 tablet and Xperia Z3+ will get the Nougat update in December.

The Xperia XA and XA Ultra will be the last to get Android Nougat, with the release slated for Q1 2017. There's no details on any other smartphones. Sony has been working hard to bring the latest update to its phone, so we expect more devices to be included in the list in the near future.

Recently the company released Android Marshmallow to Xperia C4 and Xperia C5 Ultra.

In related, Sony has opened Android Nougat Beta registration for Xperia X Performance in select countries including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Netherlands. Sony says the amount of users for this activity is limited, so you'll have to sign up faster to be a part of the beta program.
