Apple introduces AirPods wireless earbuds powered by a new W1 chip

Apple officially announced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and as expected the don't have 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead the audio is transmitted through the bundled Lightning Earpods over the lightning port. The Cupertino tech giant also introduced new wireless earphones called AirPods to accompany the new iPhones and Apple Watch.

The AirPods pack a low power W1 Chip, a new wireless tech Apple is using instead of Bluetooth. The earphones can be used in both mono and stereo mode. It has microphones located at the bottom half, and lets you access Siri with a double tap on the side. You can give voice commands to Siri for controlling music, changing volume and check battery life and more. 

Each AirPods packs accelerometers and optical sensors that help detect when they are in the ears. Removing them will pause the music. The AirPods will last for five hours and comes in a case that offers additional 24 hours of charge. You can connect the AirPods to your Apple device by just opening up the AirPods case and tapping connect.

The wireless earphones can connect to both iPhone and Apple Watch, and lets you switch between the devices easily. They are compatible with Apple devices running iOS 10, watchOS 3 and macOS Sierra.

Priced at $159 the Apple AirPods will release in late October. It will be available in India for Rs. 2500.
