Xiaomi releases MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM, now rolling out to select phones


As promised, Xiaomi has released the global stable MIUI 8 ROMs to most of the company's smartphones, which brings brand new design and handful of new features.

Currently, Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 8 as an over-the-air update globally to Redmi 1s, Mi 2, Mi 2s, Mi 4i, Redmi Note (3G & 4G variant) in phases. If you happen to own one of the mentioned devices, you can also head over to MIUI forum to download MIUI 8 ROM and flash it manually.

  • Caller ID – automatically identify incoming numbers or find popular numbers when dialing out (India only)
  • Hindi T9 – find contacts easily with T9 dialer search (India only)
  • Enhanced SMS – SMS accounts of popular businesses now display logos and company names (India only)
The rest of the phones will get MIUI 8 in the coming days or weeks. These include Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm variant), Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 5, Mi Note, and the Mi Max (32GB model).
