Honor V8 with dual 12MP rear cameras gets official


Huawei after launching P9 and P9 Plus last month with Leica branded dual camera setup, the company's sub-brand Honor today at an event in China has announced the Honor V8 smartphone, which will also comes with dual rear camera setup, but without Leica lenses. 

It comes with 12-megapixel dual rear camera w/ dual-tone LED flash, Laser Auto Focus and 1.76-micron pixel size promising brilliant image quality in low-light conditions. The front facing camera is 8-megapixel. 

The Honor V8 comes with 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display, and is the first Honor smartphone with come with 2K display. There is also a version with 5.7-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display as well. It is powered by octa-core Kirin 950 processor backed by Mali T880 GPU and 4GB RAM. The Honor V8 comes in two storage variants 32GB and 64GB. It comes with Hybrid dual SIM slot, which means the secondary slot can either accept a SIM card or microSD card (up to 128GB supported. 

Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE w/ VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, dual-SIM slot, NFC and USB Type-C. It runs EMUI 4.1 based on Android Marshmallow and is backed by 3500mAh battery with fast charging support. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back and a dedicated key on the right side for intelligent voice actions and quickly open apps. Interestingly, the retail box of Honor V8 transforms into a VR headset.

The Honor V8 comes in Ceramic White, Platinum Silver, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, Ice Silver and Gray colors. It is now available for order in China and will go on sale starting May 17.
