MediaTek Helio X25 SoC to be exclusively used in Meizu PRO 6

MediaTek at an event in China officially introduced its Deca-core Helio X20 processor. Also at the event Meizu CEO, Yongxiang BAI and MediaTek VP & Co-COO, Jeffery Ju announced that Meizu's upcoming flagship, the Meizu Pro 6 will be exclusively powered by a Deca-core Helio X25 processor.

The Helio X25 uses a similar architecture as the Helio X20 and has three cluster designs that includes 4 x Cortex A53 cores, 4 x Cortex A53 cores and 2 x Cortex A72 performance cores, but the chip is clocked at a higher speed of 2.5GHz. The Mali T880 GPU clock speed has also increased up to 850MHz. Although the clock speeds are higher, the X25 will consumer same amount of power as  X20.

To recall the Helio X20 has 2 x ARM Cortx A72 CPUs clocked at 2.3GHz, 4 x ARM Cortex A53 CPUs clokced at 2GHz,  and 4 x A53 CPUs at 1.4GHz. The Helio X20 SoC is coupled with Mali T880 GPU, supports up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) display and up to dual 25MP ISPs, and supports MediaTek's Pump Express+ 3.0 fast charging. The MediaTek X20 SoC is already utilized by ZOPO's Speed 8 that was introduced at MWC 2016.

Coming back to Helio X25 SoC, the processor will be exclusive to Meizu PRO 6 for few months, but the official announcement of the phone is yet to be revealed. The Pro 6 was earlier rumored to feature Samsung's Exynos 8870 SoCs, but the MediaTek and Meizu's announcement proves it wrong.

Other Meizu Pro 6 specifications rumors include 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and 1080p display with 3D/Force Touch technology. It is also expected to have Hi-Fi 3.0 sound and will run Meizu's custon Flyme 6.0 OS.
