CREO Mark 1 gets official, promises an update every month


Bengaluru-based CREO (formerly Mango Man, the makers of Teewe) has launched their first smartphone dubbed the Mark 1. The phone runs the brand's proprietary Fuel OS, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, with loaded software tweaks, and the brand promises an update every month.

Design-wise the Mark 1 sports a premium metal and glass design, and can be customized before purchasing with a custom message that will be engraved on the side of the phone's frame.

The CREO Mark 1 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by 1.95GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor paired with PowerVR G6200 and 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB, further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).

For Photography, the Mark 1 gets 21-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, Sony IMX230 sensor and f/2.0 aperture. The main camera can capture 4K video and 120fps slow motion video at 1080p. For clicking selfies and video calling you get a 8-megapixel front snapper with 86-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, animated 3D selfies and 1080p video recording.

Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity. It is fueled by 3100mAh battery with fast charging support.

The Mark 1 comes with a slew of software features on-board that includes
  • Echo an in-built answering machine, which lets callers leave voice messages for you when you're not able to answer the phone.
  • Retriever A special tracking feature to safeguard against theft, which allows the phone to be tracked even after a factory reset and when there's no internet connection.
  • Sense Offers quicker access to apps by double tapping the home button which brings up search bar (For instance, when you type 'News', Sense shows all the news related apps installed on your device and in future will also display suggestion for relevant apps from Play Store as well.
  • Smart Inbox for message - The messaging app can sort you text messages into categories from people you know, business and spam.
  • The phone comes with custom notifications and the capacitive buttons and notification can be customized as well
CREO says that users can also contribute to the development of Fuel OS by suggesting features via reFUEL app on the device. The next update to Fuel OS is scheduled for May 13 release, and will bring performance enhancements and features like photo editor, selfie screen flash, automatic data manager, customization to Echo. The company also said that it has over 106 service centres in 96 cities across India, and offers pick & drop facility in 15 major cities.

Priced at Rs. 19,999, the CREO Mark 1 comes in Gun Metal Black color and will be available from Flipkart and CREO website soon. Availability details are not known just yet.  The first 3000 customers who buy the Mark 1 will be able to engrave a custom text on the smartphone for free, which is only available in the company website.
