Gionee Marathon M5 Plus with 6-inch display, 5020mAh battery gets official
Gionee announced the battery-centric Marathon M5 boasting a massive 6020mAh battery in China in June this year, and launched it in India in August. The brand also introduced a toned-down variant of the M5 earlier this month called the Marathon M5 Lite with 4000mAh battery. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has announced, yet another variant of the Marathon M5 dubbed as Marathon M5 Plus, in China.
Similar to the other Marathon M5 variant, the Marathon M5 Plus packs a massive 5020mAh battery with dual-charging chips that offers up to 1 day of usage with just 1 hour of charging.
The Marathon M5 Plus sports a 6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 2.5D arc glass and is equipped with 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 64-bit processor with Mali T720 GPU, 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo OS 3.1 on top.
For photography there is 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) that can focus in just 0.1 seconds and can record 1080p videos. For clicking selfies you get a 5-megapixel front snapper.
The dual-SIM phone features 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG and USB Type-C port connectivity. It has a dedicated home button below the display which also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. All this is packed in a body that is made out of metal that measures 8.4mm around the waist.
Priced at CNY 2499 ($385 | Rs, 25,500), the Gionee M5 Marathon Plus is now available for order from Gionee Online store and goes on sale starting December 25 in China. It comes in Silver and Gold colors.
