HTC to unveil new smartphone(s) on September 29


HTC has scheduled an event for September 29 in Hankone, Japan where it will announce two new flagship smartphones.

The invite, which was posted on HTC's Weibo account, for the event reads “double flagship new machine will be released in Hakone, Japan” followed by the punchline "The World Best Meets the Best". The two flagships are not shown or teased in the invite but recent reports coming from China, points out the launch of Butterfly 3 and the Aero A9.

As per rumors HTC Aero A9 is said to boast QHD resolution display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and 2.5D curved edges. It will be powered by MediaTek Helio X20 ten-core tri-cluster processor with Mali-T880 GPU and 4GB RAM. It will have a full metal unibody design and pack a 3500mAh battery.

As for the Butterfly 3, it is expected to be the international version of HTC J Butterfly HTV31 which was launched in Japan in May. The phone featured 5.2-inch QHD Super LCD3 display, octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3G RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 20.2-megapixel rear camera, 13-megapixel front camera, IPX5/IPX7 and IP5X certification and 2700mAh battery. The international version is likely to comes with the same specs.

Although HTC has not yet mentioned as to which smartphones it would be unveiling on September 29, it remains to see what trick the struggling company pulls out of its hat.
