Intex IRist smartwatch with Android 4.4 KitKat, built-in 3G launched for Rs.11,999

Intex has forayed into the wearable device segment with the launch of its first smartwatch dubbed IRist at MWC Shanghai. Intex says that it is the first Indian company to launch an Android-powered smartwatch.

The smartwatch runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat instead of Android Wear and comes with Google Play store to install apps as well. It also comes with a built-in 3G SIM slot and allows making calls and sending messages. IRist works independently without the need to pair with a mobile device.

Intex IRist sports 1.56-inch (240 x 240 pixels) OLED display that is portected with a layer of Sapphire glass against scratches. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor paired with 512MB RAM and comes with 4GB internal storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. There is also a 5-megapixel 720p shooter on the right of the smartwatch. Apart from 3G, it also supports WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS connectivity. It comes with 600mAh battery that offers 240 minutes of talktime and 200 hours of standby time. It is also dust and water resistant. IRist comes with an app called iConnect to sync with smartphones for notifications, calls, messages and more.

The IRist also includes an ambient light sensor, which means the display's brightness can be automatically adjusted depending upon the lighting conditions. It also packs in a pedometer, accelerometer, compass, and a gyroscope. It comes in black, orange and pink colors.

The Intex IRist has been priced at Rs 11,999, and will be available in early August exclusively on eBay India. It comes bundled with a Bluetooth headset to make handling calls easier.
