YuFit fitness band launched in India for Rs. 999


Yu has ventured into the health and wearable segment with the launch of  company's first fitness tracking band called YuFit. According to Yu's Founder and CEO Rahul Sharma, the YuFit is not just a health or fitness band, but also a lifestyle companion. The YuFit fitness band was announced at the launch event of the Yu Yuphoria smartphone.

The YuFit band has an OLED screen. It displays time and notifications from your smartphones including e-mail, call alerts and text messages. The screen also displays number of steps taken, distance walked and other fitness parameters. 

It can also act as a shutter release button for the smartphones camera and can work with the alarm on the smartphone to alert and vibrate the user. It also comes with find My phone feature that locates user's paired smartphone. It is compatible with Android smartphones and connects via Bluetooth.

Micromax in collaboration with HealthifyMe, a start-up based in Bangalore announced healthifyme app for the YuFit band. The app tracks your sleep, distance walked, steps taken and calories burnt. It can also be used to track food intake and number of calories consumed every day based on diet.

The app contains an extensive database of international and Indian foods to help users to to count calories consumed. It also helps users to track if they have reached their fitness goal thus working as a coach for assistance. Users can chat with personal coaches, nutritionists, etc to guide, listen to feedback and motivate them. Users can also monitor the weight with the help of the app.
