Tizen-Powered Samsung Z1 Smartphone Launched In India

Samsung launched its first Tizen-powered smartphone dubbed Z1 in India. Samsung has been working on the Tizen platform for two years now. It is depending on its Tizen platform to cut down its reliance on Android OS, which powered most of the Samsung's Smartphone and tablets.

What is Tizen ? Tizen is an open source operating system that's built on linux. It is used on a variety of smart devices including smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, smart digital cameras, smart TVs, media players, vehicles , PCs, printers, and smart home appliances.It is already available on Samsung's smartwatches and fitness trackers like the Gear S and the Gear Fit.

The Tizen-powered Z1 with its simple UI is said to be ideal for first time smartphone users. It offers a fast boot time, quick access to apps, fast browser performance. It features an in-built S0S alert system which enable users to send help message by pressing the power button four times in case of emergency situation. It also features a private mode and comes with preloaded antivirus.

New OS fail to take off due to lack of apps in its app store but Samsung says that it already have 1000 apps ready in its Tizen store. The handset comes pre-loaded with many popular apps including Amazon,com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Flipkart.

The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA PLS display and is powered by 1.2GHz dual core processor with Mali 400 GPU paired with 768MB RAM and 4GB inbuilt storage [microSD card support upto 64GB]. The handset runs Samsungs Home grown Tizen 2.3 OS.

Camera features include 3.1-megapixel rear camera an 0.3-megapixel front camera which include features like Dream Shot and auto face detect. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery. Connectivty features include 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1. The handset will be available in Black, White and Wine Red colour variants.

The Samsung Z1 comes with loads of interesting offers. Samung has partnered with Aircel and Reliance to offer 500MB of free 3G data per month for six months. It also partnered with Hungama which offers users to access two million bollywood and english songs for three months.Z1 users will also get bundled subscription from nextGTv and BoxTV worth Rs. 1,750 with access to over 7000 bollywood and hollywood movies and allow users to watch TV shows. The company also announced that the Z1 handset will support 14 Indian regional language.

The entry level Samsung Z1 is now available for purchase and will be priced at Rs. 5,700. With a price tag of Rs. 5700 the handset will compete against Android One smartphones, Mote E and Xiaomi's Redmi 1s in Indian market.
